The Shebandowan Local Services Board is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as Volunteer Fire Chief, with the appointment starting immediately.

Position: Volunteer Fire Chief
Start Date: immediately
Location: Shebandowan, ON 

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing operations of the fire department
  • Leading and coordinating fire and emergency response efforts
  • Managing and mentoring volunteer personnel
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and training requirements
  • Collaborating with local government and emergency agencies

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in a fire service role
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety, emergency response protocols, and incident command systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers and community members

  Training can be provided cost free if the following certification is required by the successful applicant.   

The Fire Chief will need to meet the firefighter certification regulation of having at the minimum:

  • Exterior Attack with Auto Extrication, Ontario Seal
  • Team Lead, Exterior Attack with Auto Extrication (supervisor, Ontario seal)
  • May need NFPA 1041 Instructor level 1 if conducting firefighter training

This is a volunteer position offering a unique opportunity to lead and serve the community. Candidates must be committed to maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism. An honorarium is paid monthly.
